OBJECTIVES

Once staff reach a certain level, they are expected to be able to review the work of others but are often not given the necessary guidance on how to do so. This workshop aims to take staff through the review process, to enable them to review the work of others and produce meaningful review points.

Even if an individual does not have to review the work of others, it is good practice for them to understand the state the file should be in before being handed to the reviewer and will consider the “self-review” that should be performed as part of file preparation.

KEY TOPICS

  • Why does an accounts file need to be reviewed
  • Processes needed before handing a file over for review
  • Objectives of a file review
  • Characteristics of a good file
  • The file review process
  • The review approach – accounts
  • The review approach - file
  • Common weakness in accounts and accounts files

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This workshop is suitable for staff who are, or are about to become, responsible for reviewing the work of others. It will also give staff who produce work for review an insight into what a reviewer is looking for and confirm how to prepare a good accounts file.
